Minecraft is a true indie phenomenon, as the small game which isn't even complete, took the PC gaming scene by storm last year and has since developed a cult like following, managing to earn its developer, Mojang, over $30 million.
At the beginning of the year, the studio confirmed that a version of Minecraft for mobile phones is going to be developed in-house, for platforms like the iOS, meaning iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, but also for Android, meaning lots of other devices are going to get it.
The first actual phone that will be getting Minecraft is the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, at least according to a new teaser announcement, via Kotaku, sent forth by the mobile phone company.
In it, the familiar blocky world of Minecraft is present, alongside the iconic pickaxe and a few mentions to the creepers, the enemies from the game.
The official announcement is set to be made at the After Hours Mixer organized by Sony Ericsson on June 7, the first day of the E3 conference.
The leader of Mojang, Markus "Notch" Persson, already confirmed that he is going to appear at E3, so perhaps Sony Ericsson will make Minecraft on its Xperia Play official with an announcement straight from the game's "father."
Considering the Xperia Play uses the Android 2.3 operating system, it's possible to see Minecraft appear on other Android phones, like the Google Nexus S, after the presumed timed exclusivity deal with Sony expires.
Owners of iOS devices might also look forward to see the indie game appear on their various iPhones, iPads or iPods until the end of the year.
